有好消息與朋友分享,或者希望引起朋友的注意時,可以用較誇張的語氣說:
You'll never guess – I'm getting married next month!
You won't believe this – I got the job!
Have you heard – our favorite rock band is performing this weekend!
在交談中聽到令人驚訝的消息,可以用驚嘆的語氣反應:
No way!
You're kidding!
You're joking!
Really?!
I can't believe that!
That's terrific / terrible / shocking! (太棒了 / 可怕 / 令人震惊)
"That's terrible / shocking! " 只用在當你聽到不好的消息時,例如朋友告訴你,他遇到的可怕經歷或意外等。其他短語例子則是好、壞消息兩者皆適用。
3、與朋友安排計劃
一般朋友見面時都會同時計劃下次出遊或約會時間,你可以建議說:
Let's get together.
Let's hang out!
Let's go out tonight. What do you reckon?
How about going to the cinema / park / library?
Let's go window shopping.("我們去逛街吧!")
Let's paint the town red!("讓我們出去盡情狂歡吧!")
對朋友提出的建議,可以如此回答:
Ok! Count me in!
Sounds good!
Great, see you then!
Wonderful!
Cool, see you there!
Let's play it by ear.
"Play it by ear"原本是指在沒有樂譜可看的情況下,憑藉著耳朵與對旋律的記憶,把聽過的曲子彈奏出來。後來就引申為 「未經事先刻意安排,視當時情況而定」,也解釋為「到時再說吧!」。
對約會不確定或是不能出席:
Maybe, I'm not sure yet.
Let me get back to you.
Sorry, I have something else on.
Sorry, I'm really busy right now.
