不知道大家身邊有沒有一種人，他們很常在一句中文裡面夾雜好多英文單字。雖然常練習說英文是件好事，可是聽的人需要一直中英雙聲道的轉換，心好累啊！而如果你面對的是朋友的話，還可以虧他兩句，但如果是公司老闆常常這樣，心裡應該會很常大喊：「你要就整句都用英文講啦！」
今天我們就來看看，以下雙聲道的句子應該怎麼用全英文說。
◎ 「重點是，我們這個 project 的 deadline 已經 delay 很久了。」
→ The thing is, the deadline for this project has been delayed for quite a while.（重點是，這項專案的截止日期已經被延遲了很久。）
首先，要引出某件事情的重要性，或當你要開始說明某件事的時候，可以用片語 the thing is...，舉個例子：
The thing is, we can't finish the report by the end of the day if Jody doesn't send her part to us as soon as possible.（重點是，如果 Jody 不盡快將她的部分寄給我們的話，我們就無法在今天結束之前把報告完成。）
此外，a while 可以表示「一會兒、一段時間」，用副詞 quite「相當」來修飾的話，quite a while 可以表示「好一會兒、好一段時間」。例如：
I've been waiting for quite a while. Is my order coming soon?（我已經等很久了。我點的餐快來了嗎？）
◎ 「你們已經嚴重拖到我的 schedule 了。限你們今天下班之前 submit 給我。」
→ You're putting me behind schedule. Submit the report to me before you leave.（你們拖到我的行程安排了。在你們走之前把報告給我。）
要表達建議、命令的時候，可以用原形動詞開頭的祈使句句型。舉個例子：
Send the file to me now, please.（請現在把文件寄給我。）
◎ 「這份報告記得 cc 給大家，明天早上進行 presentation。」
→ Remember to cc everybody the report; we're going to have a meeting tomorrow morning.（記得寄送這份報告的副本給大家；我們明天早上要開會。）
Remember 的用法可以加上 V-ing，也可以加上 to V，不過兩者有些微差別喔。remember doing something 是表示「記得做過某件事」；remember to do something 則是「記得要去做某件事」。例如：
I remember having fun in New York.（我記得在紐約玩得很開心。）
Please remember to feed the dog.（請記得餵狗。）
那「寄送...的副本給某人」可以說 cc someone (on) something。例如：
Have you cc'd me the presentation file yet? （你將這份報告的副本寄給我了嗎？）
◎ 「meeting 開始之前，我希望大家先 brainstorming 一下。」
→ Before the meeting starts, I'd like everybody to brainstorm first.（在會議開始之前，我想先讓大家腦力激盪一下。）
Brainstorm 可以當作動詞，也可以當作名詞，用法是：have / hold a brainstorm session。例如：
A: What are we going to do about the Christmas party?（我們聖誕節派對要做什麼？）
B: Let's have a brainstorming session after lunch today!（今天午餐後來腦力激盪一下吧！）
◎ 「你們知道我們公司成功的 recipe 就是：我們 cost down 也不會影響品質。」
→ You know, the recipe for our company's success is that we’re able to keep the cost down without affecting quality.（你知道，我們公司成功的祕訣就是我們能夠在不影響品質的情況下，壓低成本。）
那句子裡的 cost down 是台式英文喔，要表示「降低成本、減少成本」的話，要說 keep the cost down，例如：
We have a tight budget, so we need to keep the cost down.（我們預算很少，所以我們必須壓低成本。）
