每次跟國外客戶或主管打交道都像在上戰場嗎？永遠只會用 give、buy、 ask 這些動詞就太 low 了！今天的 8 個精選商業動詞絕對能讓你搖身一變，變得很專業！
1. 當你要「告訴」贊助商重要的事時… tell → inform
我們在日常對話中很常用到 tell 這個字，但在商業場合中這個字就太不正式了！所以在職場上我們會使用 inform 來表示「告知；知會」。
Good morning, Mr. Smith. I'd like to inform you that we'll have a presentation about our upcoming product on Wednesday afternoon.
史密斯先生早安，我想要告知您我們在這週三下午會有新品發表會。
inform 的用法可以像上面的例句一樣用 inform sb. that + 子句，或可以用 inform sb. of + 名詞。
I forgot to inform the client of the changes to the schedule!
我忘了知會客戶時程異動的事了！
而 inform 的名詞就是我們常聽到的 information ，要記得 information 是不可數名詞！所以要說「很多資訊」不能用 many information，而要用 much information ！
2. 當你要告知主管客戶的「要求」時… ask for → request
在一般情況，我們都會用 ask for sth. 來表示「要求某個東西」，但 request 這個字也是表示「(有禮貌地) 請求；要求」。如果當名詞時，one's request to … 的意思是「某人對…的請求」。
Our clients requested a sample of our product and also the specifications of it. Could we provide one to them?
客戶請求我們提供樣品及產品規格，我們可以提供一份給他們嗎？
3. 當你希望企劃部門「給」你一份資料時… give → provide
如果你的主管或同事是外國人的話就別再用 give 啦！provide 這個字並不難，只是大家在商業場合常忘記把它拿出來用。如果要說「提供某個東西」就直接說 provide sth.，但如果是「提供某人某個東西」，是 provide sb. with sth.，記得不要漏掉 with 哦！
Could you provide me with a copy of the event proposal? I think we need to discuss expenditure in detail.
您可以提供我一份活動企劃書的複本嗎？我想我們要針對支出部分做詳細的討論。
4. 當你要尋求贊助商的「幫助」時… help → assist
assist 這個字就是高級版的 help，assist in + Ving 表示幫忙「做」某事，而 assist with + N. 則表示幫忙「某件事」。這個字的名詞是 assistance (不可數)，如果是 assistant 則是助理的意思，所以大家常聽到的 TA 就是 teaching assistant 的縮寫。
If you can assist us in overcoming our financial difficulties, in exchange we'll provide you with our advanced technology.
如果貴公司可以幫助我們度過經濟困境，我們也會提供本公司最先進的技術做為交換。
He assisted his supervisor with some paperwork.

5. 當你要向廠商「購買」設備時… buy → purchase
purchase 這個字可以當名詞跟動詞來使用，當名詞是指「買賣」或「消費 (這件事)」。
Good afternoon, Mr. Hunt. I'm Julia from the procurement department at VoiceTube. We'd like to purchase some studio recording equipment, so I'd like to make an inquiry.
亨特先生午安，我是 VoiceTube 採購部門的茱莉亞。我們想購買一些錄音設備，所以想先向您詢價。
6. 當你要告知客戶「送」貨問題時… send → deliver
deliver 這個字是「運送」，delivery 是它的名詞，而在國外網站上常見的 cash on delivery 是「貨到付款」， cash before delivery 則是「貨前付款」。
Thank you for placing an order. Unfortunately, this component is in short supply, so we will deliver your goods at the end of November.
感謝您下單，但因該零件目前供不應求，所以我們要在 11 月底才會出貨。
例句開頭的 place an order 是「下訂單」的意思。另外補充，在商業場合很常見到 ETA 和 ETD 這兩個縮寫，這邊的「D」並不是 delivery，它們分別是 Estimated Time of Arrival (預計到貨時間) 和 Estimated Time of Departure (預計出貨時間) 的意思！
7. 當你要「交」東西給你的主管時… hand in → submit
submit 這個字非常正式，指「提交；呈交」，如果你只是要說交作業，用 hand in 就可以了！
Good afternoon, Sam! I think I can submit the monthly report by the end of the day. It's 90% done!
山姆午安！我今天下班前就可以把月報交給你。我目前已經完成 90% 了！
8. 當你在報告中做「預測」時… think → predict
predict 是「預測」的意思，這個字在報告時很實用！如果你有任何數據或資料可以支持你對未來情況的預測，就可以使用 predict 這個字，就不用從頭到尾都用 I think… I think…。
Based on the trend observed in the graph, I predict the turnover next quarter will increase by 13%.
根據這張圖表的趨勢來看，我預測下一季的營業額會成長 13%。
這個字的名詞是 prediction，而 make a prediction about … 就是「對某事做預測」。
Instead of making predictions about which questions might be asked by the professor tomorrow, just try your best to prepare for the oral defense!
