社會新鮮人沒有工作經驗，對第一份工作的選擇，經常是為了以後在特定的產業站穩腳跟。英文裡有一說法叫「get a foot in the door 」，意即找到相關領域的第一份工作。過去業務員挨家挨戶推銷產品，當客戶把門打開後，聰明的業務員會把一隻腳伸進門裡，避免對方把門關上，這就是get a foot in the door。而Show the door，告訴人門在哪裡，表面上好像是指引一條道路，其實是「命令某人離開、下逐客令、解僱」。

學會用法：

An internship might not sound very interesting, but it's a great way to get your foot in the door at this company.

實習也許沒有那麼有趣，但這是你進入這家公司的好機會。

Although the pay was low, he accepted the job because it allowed him to get his foot in the door.

雖然薪水很低，但他還是接受了這份工作，因為這份工作能幫他先邁進此領域的門檻。
