moderate vs. radical 溫和派的 vs. 極端派的
在政治立場中，除了有分黨派之外，也有溫和派與極端派之分，英文則是 moderate、radical。 這兩個字除了可作形容詞，也可以當名詞，分別表示溫和派的人以及極端派的人。通常溫和派的人會支持緩慢的進步與改變，而極端派的人可能會採取暴力等較極端的手段以快速達成目的。

在抗爭者的團隊內部有溫和與極端派之間的衝突。
opinion poll 民意調查
再來競選時常常被提起的民意調查，英文就是很直觀的 opinion poll 或是簡稱 poll。opinion poll 當中不只包含候選人的支持度，也可能有對特定議題的民意調查。補充：民意調查的「結果」，可用 results 這個字表示。
The latest opinion poll results have overturned the news stations’ prior forecasts.
民調的最新結果推翻了新聞台的預測。
swing voter 搖擺選民/中間選民
「搖擺選民」經常是大家關注的重點，也是決定選舉成敗的關鍵。其英文是 swing voter，swing 是盪鞦韆的「盪」或是「搖擺」的意思，而 voter 則為「選民」，因此 swing voter 就是搖擺選民，或稱為中間選民。
Swing voters don't reveal their stance in the beginning, but they are often the key to the election.
搖擺選民不會在一開始就表態，但他們往往是選舉的關鍵。
campaign rally 造勢活動
選前候選人通常會在各地辦造勢或是宣傳活動，其英文是 campaign rally。campaign 是「宣傳活動」的總稱，而 rally 則有「集會」的意思，因此結合起來就變成所謂的「造勢活動」。
There were around one million people in today's campaign rally in Taipei.
今天大概有一百萬人參與了今天在台北的造勢活動。
spin / spin doctor 輿論改變 / 政治化妝師
spin 這個單字很厲害，原意為「(快速地) 旋轉」，例如：spin the coins (翻轉硬幣)， 但在選舉用語中則專指「輿論改變」的手法，為名詞，而改變輿論者，也就是所謂的政治化妝師，就被稱為 spin doctor 。
Spin is a form of propaganda. We should keep our eyes open, identify spin doctors, and verify the authenticity of the news.
改變輿論是鼓吹思想的一種形式，我們應該要睜大眼睛辨認出政治化妝師還有新聞的真偽。
